MAKER OF MULTIDIMENSIONAL SCULPTURES

SCULPTOR, IN THE TRADITIONAL SENSE OF THE WORD. FROM HIS TWELFTH YEAR TRADITIONALLY TRAINED BY HIS GRANDFATHER, A GIFTED CABINETMAKER, AND MOVED UP FROM “JOURNEYMAN” TO “MASTER”.

With this knowledge he has acquired “on wood” he then broadened his scope to stone as a material kind. His craft background, combined with theoretical education and a search for the working methods and technique of famous sculptors of the renaissance (Michelangelo!), has made him the artist he is today.

Jan-Carel seeks with its distinctive abstract and organic objects to create a bridge between nature, science and craftsmanship, with references to both the physical and psychological environment and experience.

For him, multidimensional work, is creating 3D sculptures with a fourth dimension. This fourth element he ads is the time(spacetime). This (basically for us humans, not observable) dimension he tries to emphasize. Within his work he always tries to refer to past, present and future and society to show and feel that everything and everyone continues evolve. He self, sees this as a constant wave of energy that flows continuously through the society, an eternal force that takes care of the evolution.

HIS INNER DRIVE TO CREATE IS ANCHORED IN THIS EXISTENTIAL LAW:

past present, creates present and makes the future

Jan-Carel aims through its work to find an answer to the question: “how nature has influenced the arise of the human being. And how we find it back nowadays?”. The question alone indicates the quest of Jan-Carel in connecting the earthly man with the ancient cosmic influences here on Earth.

BOTH HIS FREE WORK AS HIS COMMISSIONED WORK GIVES MORE AND MORE AN IMAGE OF THIS QUEST.

A QUEST THAT WILL LAST A LIFETIME.

You can follow the description of this search on the BLOG of Jan Carel. Also, you can follow him on his Facebook pages.

MULTI DIMENSIONALISM

What is Multi dimensionalism? And how do you recognize a Multi dimensional work?

The Multi-Dimensionalism includes a wide understanding that can be traced back to the simple translation of the word itself. To differentiate the multiple dimensions. Some people say there are three dimensions, others say there’re four and still others claiming there are even 12 dimensions. MD includes 4 dimensions;

  • – Length, height, width (the volume/space).
  • – Time

In other words space time.

We live in a world in which we can visualize three physical dimensions. The fourth dimension we can only argue. The philosophy of my art is based on this science. A multi-dimensional work consists of at least one of the following characteristics:

  • MD defines these four dimensions in Visual language. In addition to the physical dimensions, there is the (only arguing) fourth dimension in which the deeper meaning of the art as a fourth dimension must be considered. These deeper meanings are as timeless thoughts (an energy) uploaded into space in which it continues to exist.
  • MD examines the reality of different theories about, among other things, the existence and- or the genesis of man kind.
  • The MD calls for deepening of our thoughts in relation to the nature and the corresponding energies.
  • MD creates an awareness in society to give people a deeper understanding of the meaning ‘ being ‘.
  • MD endeavors to this awareness.
  • MD ignores the non-critical thought resulting from a selfish materialism.
  • MD strives to create an immanent State in which we can increase our awareness level without overstepping it, so it is easier for us to understand ‘the unknown’.
  • MD combines materials/elements of different ancient signs. From prehistoric times to the present tense to a contemporary object in which craftsmanship is a rule.
  • MD treats the forces of the energy in the elements in a right combination with a critical suspicion.
  • MD takes signals of what is happening in society and what is about to happen.
  • MD criticized the blindly acceptance of the quest for the established “false truth”
  • MD penetrates into reality, due to its simplicity and the own specific viewpoints and perspectives.
