Welcome to my blog!
In this post, I’ll take you into the world of “Multidimensionalism (MD)“, a new dimension in Art.
“Multidimensionalism (MD)” is more than an art movement; it’s a personal philosophy and a way of looking at the world that I, Jan-Carel, have developed. MD reflects my quest for a deeper understanding of reality, where space, time, and meaning (energy) converge. I use MD in my art because I believe that art should not only be a visual experience but also a means to challenge people to think about their existence and the invisible forces that influence our lives.
For me, MD is a way to connect the tangible and the intangible. It allows me to tell stories that go beyond physical forms; stories that resonate in time and space and invite the viewer to reflect and become aware. My works are a call to not only see the world but also to understand it in all its dimensions.

What is Multidimensionalism?
Multidimensionalism revolves around experiencing multiple dimensions. While we typically perceive three physical dimensions — “length,” “height,” and “width” — MD adds a fourth and possibly fifth: “time” and “energy.” These last two dimensions are not directly visible but are experienced as a timeless thought or energy that continues to resonate in space. This challenges the viewer to think about the boundaries of perception and understanding.
What makes MD unique is how it relates to other art movements. “Cubism” shows multiple perspectives by fragmenting forms, and “Surrealism” explores the dream world and the subconscious. MD, on the other hand, investigates the interaction between objective and subjective reality across multiple dimensions. Unlike “Minimalism,” which strives for simplicity, MD uses complexity in layers of meaning to evoke awareness and reflection.

How to Recognize Multi-Dimensional Artworks?
1. “Four-dimensionality”: Time as an Essential Element
Example – In my project “WoodHenge – Time“, time is made tangible through a timeline showing historical data from 4000 BCE to the present. This makes the cyclical nature of time palpable and confronts you with the interplay between past, present, and future.
2. “Philosophical Depth”
The work “Exhortare” challenges you to introspection with layered meanings that refer to existential questions. It raises the question: what does it mean to ‘be’ in a multidimensional reality?
3. “Relationship with Nature and Energy”
Nature forms the core of MD. In “WoodHenge“, natural materials and their arrangement emphasize the energies associated with the cycles of nature. This makes you aware of the invisible forces that surround us.
4. “Consciousness and Critique of Materialism”
The “Labradorite Bath with 24K Gold” combines luxury with natural materials. This work invites reflection and shows that true value lies in energetic and spiritual awareness, not in material wealth.
5. “Timeless Composition of Elements”
MD combines materials from different time periods. “WoodHenge” integrates prehistoric elements with contemporary structures, creating a timeless connection between past, present, and future.
6. “Craftsmanship and Critical Selection”
High-quality craftsmanship is essential in MD. In the “Labradorite Bath” labradorite from Ukraine and 24-karat gold are combined to create a timeless, multidimensional experience.
7. “Reflection on Society”
“Exhortare” criticizes blindly accepting established truths and encourages you to consider alternative perspectives.
8. “Immanent Awareness”
The ultimate goal of MD is to create a state of consciousness in which the unknown becomes more accessible. The spatial setup of “WoodHenge – Time” and the intimate atmosphere of the “Labradorite Bath” contribute to this.
Why Multidimensionalism?
The emergence of “Multidimensionalism” in my work stems from a personal fascination with the complexity of existence. I noticed that traditional art movements often illuminate only one aspect of reality. MD allows me to bring together multiple layers of reality — physical, philosophical, and energetic. I do this to stimulate the viewer and invite them to think about their place in time and space.
I believe that art has the power to raise consciousness and offer insights that would otherwise remain hidden. By using MD, I can make these ideas tangible.
Each artwork is, for me, a medium to communicate timeless thoughts and energies that continue to exist and resonate with the viewer.
How Multidimensionalism Comes to Life in My Work:

“WoodHenge – Time”
This project arose from my desire to make the relationship between past, present, and future tangible. By integrating a timeline from 4000 BCE to the present, “WoodHenge – Time” shows how time is cyclical and continuous. In this, I explore how history, nature, and human perception come together in a multidimensional project.

“Exhortare”
In this work, I wanted to invite the viewer to self-reflection. “Exhortare” calls for awareness and challenges existing beliefs. It asks questions about ‘being’ and the role of consciousness, through which I hope people will look beyond the visible reality.

“Labradorite Bath with 24K Gold”
This luxurious bath symbolizes for me the combination of natural energies and human refinement. By combining Labradorite from Ukraine with 24-karat gold, I create a personal space in which the viewer is invited to reflect on inner wealth and timeless beauty.
Conclusion
“Multidimensionalism” is, for me, a way to bring together art and philosophy. By combining space, time, and meaning, I want to create artworks that are not only visually appealing but also offer an energetic and philosophical experience. My goal is to challenge people to live more consciously, think critically, and explore the invisible dimensions of our existence.
Through MD, I hope to open a conversation about our perception of reality and the forces that shape our lives. Each artwork is an invitation to travel together through the layers of time, space, and meaning — a journey to a deeper understanding of the unknown.
What do you think of this multidimensional approach to art? Let me know in the comments!
