When a wall is no longer just a wall
Not every wall starts as an idea, but emerges as something that goes beyond form alone.
At MoreSenz I was given the space to create an ArtRock wall that doesn’t feel like a finish, but like an experience. A rock wall in the interior that is not only visible, but also tangible.
What you see here is my interpretation of petrified wood, a moment where life transitions into stone.

My inspiration: from wood to stone
My passion for making began with wood. There I learned to look at direction, at growth, at how material moves.
That way of looking never left me. Later, stone and gemstone were added. Material that is heavier, more massive, seemingly quieter. But it is precisely there that I still search for that same movement.
Petrified wood fascinates me because it brings those two worlds together:
- growth and movement
- stillness and mass
In this wall I tried to make that transition tangible. The lines follow no random pattern, but a direction you almost recognise. As if the material once grew and slowly came to a standstill.
What you see is stone. But what lies beneath is still wood. And perhaps that is why you feel it.

Why this is not “render work”
What I hear more and more from architects and clients is that they give up on standard rock walls. Not because the idea isn’t good, but because the execution often falls short.
Much of what is offered on the market is essentially render with a texture. And you can see it. It lacks:
- depth
- tension
- layering
- and above all: conviction
As a result, it simply does not belong in a high-end interior or architectural design. And that is precisely where I make the difference.
My approach: sculpting as the foundation of experience
I am not a plasterer. I am a sculptor of space and experience.
The making is not a step in the process for me, it is the process. That is where everything comes into being. Every ArtRock wall I build entirely by hand. Layer by layer, form by form.
I don’t add texture, I sculpt it.
That means:
- no repetition
- no standard patterns through the use of moulds
- no second copy
What emerges is a bespoke luxury rock wall that behaves like a work of art, yet functions as part of the interior. Because it is made, not designed.
Integration into the interior
At MoreSenz I did not design the wall separately from the space.
The olive green tone of the wallpaper I subtly brought back into the rock.
Not visible as colour, but felt as connection. This creates calm.
The wall draws attention, but does not shout. It fits.
Light as an amplifier of experience
Light plays a crucial role in how the wall is experienced. The hanging fixtures and the lighting below ensure that:
- shadows continuously change
- the depth becomes stronger
- the wall lives throughout the day
This makes the ArtRock wall not a static element, but a dynamic part of the space.
Also suitable for outdoors
What many people don’t know is that this technique is also perfectly suited for outdoor use.
I apply the same principles to facades and outdoor spaces, where the wall is resistant to:
- weather influences
- temperature differences
- prolonged exposure
This creates an outdoor rock wall that seamlessly connects to the architecture of the home.
As seen in my earlier projects, this can literally transform a home into something that feels as if it emerged from the landscape itself.

Why architects are choosing this again
What I notice lately is that architects are embracing rock walls once more, but only when the level of quality is right.
After seeing my work I often hear:
“This is how it’s meant to be.”
And that says it all.
It’s not about the idea of a rock wall. It’s about the execution. When that is right, it becomes not a risk, but a reinforcement of the design.
Who is this for?
My work is not for everyone. It is intended for people who:
- refuse to compromise on quality
- are looking for a unique wall finish
- and want their space to speak at a higher level
I therefore work primarily with architects, interior designers and private clients in the high-end segment.
Experience it for yourself
Photos give an impression, but never the full story.
The depth …. The texture …. The play of light.
A project like this is difficult to capture in photos alone.
For those with serious interest I am happy to share more about the possibilities, and the work can be viewed by appointment.
In closing
I work in stone, but I still think in wood.
