THE PROCESS

Creating an artificial rock wall is a labor-intensive and precise process. Various layers are applied to the wall, each of which has an essential function and ensures a realistic and durable result. At the end of the process, you will have a beautiful work of art in your home that you will enjoy for years to come.

Creating an artificial rock wall

Making an artificial rock wall involves various processes and techniques that you must carefully carry out step by step before you get a perfect-looking, natural rock wall.

First of all, it is important that you have in mind what type of style and color of rock you want to visualize because you first build up the relief with special plates that you mount on the wall to create the correct depth.

The next step is to ensure that the cement adheres to the wall and cannot crack after application. These first few steps are very important as the foundation of the rock wall.

After this, you can finally use your creativity in the real creation process by sculpting the final rocks in a thickly applied cement layer.

The rock wall in the accompanying photo is extra time-consuming due to the amount of detail incorporated into it. But this differs per type of rock and can of course be adjusted to the customer’s wishes.

Is any wall suitable?

In principle, any wall is suitable, although it is important that a sturdy surface is used because there will be quite a bit of weight on the wall. Depending on the type of rock and the depth of the relief.

But even a plasterboard could be a suitable wall, although I would personally go for a somewhat sturdier wall because of the sound when you knock on the rocks (and you hear a hollow sound on a plaster wall).

What is important is the style you want to create in the room in question. For example, if you want a real man cave, it is no problem to provide all four walls and even the ceiling with a rock wall. While a living space can suffice with one or a few walls depending on the interior and the size of the room.
